Madeline Jane Lounsberry is an artist currently based in Chicago. She completed her BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She was born in Waterloo, IA and grew up in Eagle Valley, Colorado. Her artistic practice is primarily based in painting but also spans drawing, video, sculpture, performance, and garments. Throughout media she investigates utopia and the subsequent collapse of utopia. Each work is a window into the figures’ journey towards spiritual climax, epiphany and realization. A series of realizations in myriads of spaces and landscapes; some idyllic, garden’s of eden, some have fallen or are falling from grace. The constant presence and search for boundary and the makings up and breaking down of moral codes. Comparison of synthetic fiction to the chaos of reality.
